It Won't Be Long

There was some acrimony between the singer and her record company over the video for It Won’t Be Long. (See above for video). In an interview, Alison shockingly revealed “I had a record company screaming at me because I was pulling eyelashes off myself in a video. And yet I was offered another video treatment where the opening shot is me, with my hands, covering over a bruised face, after being battered by a man. Obviously, in the music business it is okay to be defiled by a man but never by yourself, in terms of striking out against tyrannical concepts of feminine beauty.”

Despite limited commercial success, It Won’t Be Long earned Alison a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1993. See below for the Grammy Program from the night.
