It’s the place where BBC Radio 2 invites the brightest and best artists to collaborate with the BBC Concert Orchestra: the iconic Piano Room sessions. And, as host Vernon Kay revealed, Alison Moyet has been one of the most requested performers of all time to play there.
Today those hopes were answered as Alison took to the famed Studio 3 at the Maida Vale Studios. Following the established format of performing two of your own songs and a cover song of your choice, Alison first delved into her back catalogue for a strings-laden take on All Cried Out.
Alison then gave the first live performance of Such Small Ale, the first track to be released from her forthcoming album, Key.
And rounding off her very first BBC Radio 2 performance, Alison Moyet performed a cover of David Bowie’s 1986 hit, Absolute Beginners.
